1. Scope and responsibility
Cool How about LLC, a Utah limited liability company operating SkillSpring ("we," "us," or "our"), provides this notice for visitors, Creators, Learners, and others interacting with getskillspring.io and the SkillSpring platform.
We determine how personal information is used for our own account administration, billing, support, security, and marketing. When Creators use SkillSpring to deliver courses and manage their students, we also process information on their behalf. Creators are responsible for their own privacy notices and lawful instructions. A Creator's independent use of information is governed by that Creator's policy. The exact controller/processor or business/service-provider allocation depends on the activity and applicable law.
2. Information collected
Account and contact information: Information supplied to register, manage an account, purchase a plan, or contact us, such as names, email addresses, account identifiers, login information, business information, and correspondence.
Course and learner information: Course content, uploaded files and links, contact records, enrollments, learning progress, homework submissions, and messages provided or generated through the platform.
AI interactions: Course content used by an AI coach, student prompts and messages, AI replies, and the configuration and API credentials needed to connect the selected provider. Student messages and AI replies are saved. Creators can view their students' AI conversations. SkillSpring staff can view conversations by logging into the customer's account only with that customer's permission, rather than through a separate staff conversation-viewing interface.
Purchase information: Stripe processes payments to SkillSpring. SkillSpring does not store payment-card details or a separate copy of Stripe transaction records. Our dashboard displays Stripe's payment status indicating whether a customer has paid. Billing administration and refund requests are handled through our dashboard and Stripe. Creators separately receive course payments through their own connected Stripe or PayPal accounts.
Device and usage information: Information collected through our website and services, including IP addresses, browser/device details, page visits, interactions, referring sources, cookie identifiers, and similar analytics or advertising signals, depending on configuration.
Session recordings: We use Hotjar on our website, creator dashboard, and student courses to improve the user experience and interface. Recordings capture interactions and can include displayed course content. Passwords and payment fields are excluded, and student names, homework, and AI conversations are masked. Recordings are retained for one year. Closing an account does not trigger early deletion of recordings containing course content; they remain subject to that one-year retention period and any applicable legal deletion requirements.
3. Sources and purposes
Information comes from you, Creators who enroll or manage Learners, your use of the Services, connected payment and AI providers, and analytics or advertising technologies.
We use information to provide accounts and courses; operate AI coaching and integrations; manage plans and refunds; respond to support requests; communicate service information; protect the platform; troubleshoot and understand use; administer marketing and measure advertising; and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not use course content or AI conversations to train our own general-purpose models. Course content is also captured through Hotjar session recordings as described in this policy.
Staff may log into a customer's account only with that customer's permission. Hotjar recordings are used to improve the user experience and interface, not to train our own general-purpose AI models. Course content, homework, and AI conversations are excluded from information sent to Google and Meta for tracking.
4. AI providers and course content
Creators choose an AI provider and supply their own API key. Supported options include Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, and OpenAI GPT models. Course content, the student's questions, and previous conversation context are sent to the selected provider using that key. AI processing is handled by that provider to support the Creator's AI coach.
Using course content to inform responses is not necessarily the same as retraining a provider's underlying model. SkillSpring does not use course content or conversations to train a general-purpose model for its own purposes. The selected provider's handling, retention, and potential training use are governed by its applicable terms and the Creator's account settings. We do not promise that a provider never retains data or uses it for training unless those settings and contractual restrictions have been verified.
Do not put information into the AI coach that you lack permission to share. Learners should contact the Creator for questions about the selected provider and the course's AI configuration.
5. Recipients
Information is disclosed as needed for the purposes described here. Providers include Cloudflare for hosting; Amazon for storage; Google Workspace for email; LeadConnector/GoHighLevel for communications and related customer-management functions; Google Analytics for analytics; Meta and Google for advertising and tracking; Hotjar for session recordings; and the Creator's selected AI provider for AI coaching. Stripe processes payments to SkillSpring. Stripe and PayPal also handle connected Creator payments. Each receives information relevant to its role, not necessarily all information in an account.
Creators can access their students' AI conversations and course-related information made available through their account. SkillSpring staff may log into a customer's account and access its conversations only with that customer's permission.
Information may also be disclosed when legally required, to address fraud or security incidents, to establish or defend legal rights, to professional advisers where appropriate, or in connection with a business sale or reorganization subject to applicable protections. This notice does not authorize unrelated reuse of private course content or conversations.
6. Cookies, analytics, advertising, and recordings
SkillSpring uses Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Google and Meta tracking, advertising cookies, and Hotjar session recordings. These technologies can collect identifiers and information about visits and interactions for analytics, advertising measurement, and targeted advertising, depending on the tool and settings. Hotjar also records displayed course content on recorded pages.
Advertising-related disclosures may qualify as a "sale," "sharing," or processing for targeted advertising under some privacy laws even without a monetary sale. This policy does not make a blanket claim that SkillSpring never sells or shares personal information.
You can adjust browser cookie settings, although blocking cookies may affect functionality and may not stop every form of tracking. You can contact [email protected] with a privacy or advertising opt-out request.
7. Retention and deletion
For an ordinary subscription canceled before renewal, the account remains accessible through the current paid term. At expiry, SkillSpring deletes the account's files, contacts, AI conversations, course context, and copies of course content. SkillSpring does not retain backups of this account content. Canceling only an upgrade on a lifetime account preserves the original lifetime account. Contacts above a downgraded limit remain stored but disabled; only the first contacts up to the retained limit keep access.
The account-content deletion rule applies to content stored in the operational SkillSpring account. Hotjar session recordings are retained separately for one year, including recordings that contain displayed course content. Closing an account does not automatically delete those recordings before that period ends. This retention policy is subject to applicable legal deletion requirements. Information independently retained by AI providers, Stripe, or other third parties is governed by their applicable terms and retention practices.
SkillSpring retains its billing-administration records, support emails, security logs, and Google Analytics data for one year. These are separate from the course-account content deleted at subscription expiry. Stripe maintains its own transaction records under its applicable retention practices; SkillSpring's one-year period does not promise deletion of Stripe's independent records.
Creators must export or otherwise save information they need before account access ends. Requests for deletion and third-party provider retention are handled under applicable law and provider terms.
8. Privacy requests and communications
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of personal information; withdraw consent; object to or restrict certain processing; opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising; and appeal a denied request. These rights are subject to applicable conditions and exceptions.
Send requests to [email protected]. Identify your relationship to SkillSpring and the relevant account or course, but do not send passwords or API keys. We may need proportionate verification of your identity or an authorized agent's authority. We will respond within applicable legal time limits and will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
If your request concerns information a Creator controls, contact that Creator first or ask us to help route it. Where we act on a Creator's behalf, we assist as required rather than independently deciding all requests. To appeal a decision where that right applies, reply to our response or email us with "Privacy appeal." You may also contact the appropriate regulator.
You can ask us to stop marketing emails by using an available unsubscribe link or contacting us. Essential account, billing, security, and legal communications may continue.
9. International processing
SkillSpring is operated by a United States company and serves customers worldwide, including in the European Union and United Kingdom. Amazon provides storage and Cloudflare provides hosting.
10. Security
SkillSpring uses encryption to protect information. Staff may log into a customer's account only with that customer's permission. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your account and API keys, and contact [email protected] about suspected unauthorized access.
11. Adults only
SkillSpring is for adults 18 and older. Minors may not create accounts or take courses. If you believe a minor's information has been submitted, contact [email protected] so we can investigate and take appropriate steps, including removal where required. Creators must not enroll minors.
12. Policy changes and contact
We will post updates with a revised effective date and provide additional notice of material changes as required. Where a change requires consent, we will obtain it separately rather than treating publication or continued use alone as sufficient.
